Snippet of the Making of No.8 and 6th April 2008

A chockfull of items lined up last weekend left us in exhausted but completely satisfied. Let me explain… With one month and 2 days away from the wedding, one can only imagine the itty gritty things we have to do to tie up loose ends. Such was the case on Sat and Sunday.

Terence stationed himself at our home to receive our furniture. Lorry after lorry came from 9am – 4pm. First Harvey Norman with our gigantic wardrobe, then Macy’s with our bed, then Eng Seng Heng with the fridge and washing machine (both given to us my two lovely families) and then finally our sofa from Cavenzi. And in between the electrician dropped by to fix some wiring, after he left the alarm system technician decided to pay a visit! Thankfully our trusty contractor friend, Sir Hon Chong came to the scene to monitor the frenzy.

While Terence busied himself with our home, I met up with with Siew Kay to get our engagement video. She did a superb job on the editing. I’d soon upload it on You Tube and share it here. Then it was onto shopping for my evening gown with Mom and Rachel. Gosh, shopping really zaps every ounce of energy you have, especially having to wade the multitudes of weekend shoppers whilst picking out the dress of your dreams. Urgh! Weekend shopping is really not my kind of thing. I was glad we were done and out within an hour and a half!

Afternoon activity was filled with a little escapade for my flower girls. Yes! We were on a mission to look for their dresses. All three of the flower girls were buzzing with excitement trying one dress after another. Then we finally decided on one and got it tailored. Phew, there goes our Saturday, and church of course in the evening.

Sunday was another day gone in a jiffy. We cleaned the entire house, scrubbed, washed, vacuumed and mopped every corner of the house. Every possible stain we eradicated and made sure it shined. We bought the most effective detergent and spray we could find or so we thought) from Ace Hardware and was determine that the concoction will do the job. But like newbies at this dirt elimination blitz, sometimes not the most expensive detergents work, it just takes listening to your mom and using what they have been using for yonder years. (Will share more on cleaning stories in the future when I settle down as wifey)

The wall paper is finally up on our walls, the entire ambiance of the house looks like it went through a 180°make over. The kitchen cabinets have also been lined with new wall paper. The floor is sparkling and the furniture is in place. It’s almost ready for stay but we’d have to wait a few more weeks till after the big day. Meanwhile there’s quite a bit of touch up to be done. Our featured wall still needs a splash of design work and the window seals still need painting. Not to mention, our barang barang still has not been packed and would need to be brought over soon.

Ah… the joy of new chapters in life. We don’t want to miss anything of it. Though it comes with a little stress and juggling of schedules but the satisfaction and fulfillment overrides it. Above all, thank You Jesus for making this possible.
