It started about a month and a half ago, when our little sanctuary went under the scrutiny of our trusted contractor friend. Official work started on the 26th Dec 07 and from then on our lil home never looked the same.
Heaps of sand, bricks and broken tiles filled our driveway, dust swathed floors greeted us every time we took a peek. Sound of drilling, hammering and breaking down of walls followed through days and weeks. Each visit welcomed with a new developments.
Our reno was quite simple with two toilets to revamp and the 2nd floor to be turned into a complete studio. They broke the wall and replaced it with a sliding door separating our study cum lounge cum guest room from our master bed room. Then they extended the toilet making more room for shower. Changed all the lighting in the house, retiled the toilet floors and walls and skimmed the walls.
Phew! It’s now more about ¾ complete. The only thing left on the ‘to do list’ is the glass door for the shower, custom made sliding door and painting! And of course furniture to fill the space. Can’t wait for our home to be READY!
Progress has come a long way from the day we got the keys. We have been more appreciative and mindful of what our parents have given us (roof over our heads). The saying goes, “You won’t know a mother’s heart until you are a mother yourself”. In this case, we never really knew the real value of our homes until we got a home for ourselves.
Take a look at the chapters of change of our new little sanctuary.
