Goodness in greens

My love for veggies has just grown a tad bit higher. When dining at Japanese restaurants, one of the ‘must have’ from the menu is edamame. I first noticed a group of customers munching on these pea pods a few months back and thought to myself “Why in the world are they eating peas when there’s sushi on the menu?” Admittedly I was wrong because those peas are unlike those hard crunchy string beans I detest come near my plate when I was young. These peas are in fact soy beans. Sweet tasty soy beans.

Not long after my craze for edamame, I found out from a friend that Jusco sells them frozen. Without hesitation I whiz through the fruits section and laid eyes on packets of frozen edamame. Imagine my delight! Since then, I have been having edamame for breakfast, edamame in front of the TV, edamame at work and edamame for dinner.

Note to health enthusiast: Edamame is a complete protein source containing all the eseential amino acids. Great source of protein, fiber, essential fatty acids, and isoflavones. Which means, it’s as good as eating chicken or fish for your daily protein intake.
