Going diving...

Yes! The sun, sand and ripples of blue water. We're heading out to sea again! It seemed like ages since my last dive (Pulau Payar). But this time around, I choose to believe that I'm actually excited to hop on the boat and plunge into the water. As you would have guessed, yes I have a slight fear of the deep unknown. The lack of security as one would have if I was on land and the great limitless expanse that stretches right, left and deep below still gives me shudders. I still shiver at the thought of exploring dark crevices or huge ship wrecks. And hopefully this fear will soon wear off with seasonal dives trips clocked in. I marvel at divers who jump enthusiastically at the occasion of coming face to face with a giant manta ray or a whale shark. The thought of it makes me want to retract and just watch Discovery Travel and Adventure for the underwater experience.

Had an interesting conversation with my dad the other day about me and diving. It went like this:
Dad: Debbie, are you pushing yourself?
Deb: What do you mean?
Dad: It appears to me that you don't really like diving. Why are you doing all this?
Deb: *Laughs* What do you mean I don't like diving? I do actually (trying to convince), I'm trying to conquer this fear of mine and at the same time enjoying it.
Dad: Ok, just don't push yourself too hard.
Deb: I'm enjoying it dad, don't worry. It's a two fold decision to conquer my fear and to grow an interest for it.
*Conclusion: Dad's know their daughters inside out.

As for now, I'm all packed and ready to hop on that 4 hour boat ride that'll take us to Pulau Dayang. I can't wait to be certified as an official Open Water Diver, since I've been only surviving with a Scuba Diver license for the past 2 years. Yippee! Dayang here I come. One more leap into the deep sea of faith.

Anti fogging our mask with Colgate. Those anti fog creams don't work as well as good ol' toothpaste.
