Yes! The sun, sand and ripples of blue water. We're heading out to sea again! It seemed like ages since my last dive (Pulau Payar). But this time around, I choose to believe that I'm actually excited to hop on the boat and plunge into the water. As you would have guessed, yes I have a slight fear of the deep unknown. The lack of security as one would have if I was on land and the great limitless expanse that stretches right, left and deep below still gives me shudders. I still shiver at the thought of exploring dark crevices or huge ship wrecks. And hopefully this fear will soon wear off with seasonal dives trips clocked in. I marvel at divers who jump enthusiastically at the occasion of coming face to face with a giant manta ray or a whale shark. The thought of it makes me want to retract and just watch Discovery Travel and Adventure for the underwater experience.
Dad: Debbie, are you pushing yourself?
Deb: What do you mean?
Dad: It appears to me that you don't really like diving. Why are you doing all this?
Deb: *Laughs* What do you mean I don't like diving? I do actually (trying to convince), I'm trying to conquer this fear of mine and at the same time enjoying it.
Dad: Ok, just don't push yourself too hard.
Deb: I'm enjoying it dad, don't worry. It's a two fold decision to conquer my fear and to grow an interest for it.
*Conclusion: Dad's know their daughters inside out.
