It’s rare to have a Sunday free and easy with close to nothing on my schedule. The family scooted off for a weekend of camp while I stayed back with gram’s. I’d say it’s my first if not one of those rare occasions I’m not present at camp. Exceptional as it may be, I’m actually quite happy to have the weekend to myself. None forgetting the fact that most of my Saturday was filled with classes (main reason camp is far from reach).
Visited my god-daughter and her one of a kind mom J… She recently had a tumbly wumbly fall down the sofa and had 10 stitches on tiny forehead. Having the balance of an acrobat and agility of a ballet dancer, this tough cookie amazingly braved through the whole ordeal and was once again jumping and bouncing! I found out that she went to camp as well, playing in the river, picking up stones and splashing water in every direction. Thanks to her super adventurous mom – Vanny will follow suit in her fearless attempts to explore heights and depths.
Heading home, I felt an urge to bake and since I had the kitchen all to myself, why not?! Deciding on the recipe was hard enough, with a pile of cookbooks and a zillion variations, one can just be satisfied browsing through the pages. Finally decided I got on to it. Pouring flour and oil, cracking eggs and stirring in milk – mix mix mix. The oven’s ready and my cupcake trays are filled. Into the oven and I got onto cleaning the place. By gosh, I just realized how fast the ants in my house detect sweet thingy’s. In mere seconds they are zig zagging their way past the packet of flour and block of butter, attacking my piped icing sugar! Argh! A baker’s worst enemy!

The cupcakes are a lot smaller (about half the size of my palm) - BOY! Were they fragile!
