How things have evolved...

Nowadays the office seems like “family”. Only the other day leaving to Kuantan our Senior manager and a few other colleagues walked us to the car to send us off on a 3 day business trip. Light heartedly I said her (the senior mng) “Bye! mummy see you in a few days time” and she chucked a hearty laugh, replying “Be good, we’ll take care of everything here”.

I’m quite startled at the bond we have unconsciously forged thus far. Gathering that it’s been about 9 ½ months now since I first started. Oh by the way, this is the research writing job if you are confused. I would be talking more along the lines of child like genres’ and pre-elementary like programs if it was the other job *to come I promise!*

Anyhow we were having lunch one day and realized that one of the student interns would be leaving us this week. Having spent 3 months learning the ropes in our consultancy firm, she’d be finishing her final year of uni. As usual the ‘family’ sneaked behind her back to plan a farewell All Malaysian Breakfast Buffet for her.

Going round the table each suggesting what to buy, bring or cook. We realized as Malaysian as we are, our taste buds have a weak incline to a bit of the western flair. The menu lined with kuih muih, nasi lemak and mee goreng had an invasion of white choc chip muffins and double decker sandwiches. Yours truly had to admit that she is not as skillful in preparing local dishes as she is with oven popped delightables – that’s why she made muffins!

Time permits for episode 2 of ‘Muffin Making’

This time no more cherries, i get bored easily and want to try out new recipes. So I picked chocolate instead. Since I had only the evening to come up with something, I opted for Pilsbury’s Choc Cake mix in hope that it’ll work out the same if I spooned it into a muffin tray. It was a quick fix, no fuss, no worry, no hassle (just hope they taste as good). The consistency was a tad bit too watery tho so I added some flour into the mixture.

Sprinkling some white choc chips on top before sending them into the oven. At first I thought I could make 3 variations of the simple choc mixture. One with white choc chip, another with almonds and the last one with mini marshmallows. Which brings me to my other bug story. But first, in case the following para repels you, here's a pic of my Pilsbury choc muffin with white choc chip.

Continuing the unfolding of the three variations... I found out the #2nd worst enemy of a baker# This time it's species unamed, nonetheless just as detestable as the first. There before my very eyes, unknown insects were invading my mini marshmallows! I unzipped the bag and was about to sprinkle some on my muffins, only to have a second look and instantaneously withdraw my hand from the bag! There were brownish specs crawling all over the white fluffy marshies… Needless to say the third variation didn’t turn out.
