Christmas in April?

Day 10- Honeymoon

Forcing ourselves to wake, we clambered out of bed at 6am to catch a coach to Milford Sound – about 4 ½ hours away from Queenstown. The morning was chilly and it was about to get colder. We had decided to follow a coach tour to save some cash and get the most out of South West of New Zealand.

Milford Sound is set within the Fiordland National Park (NZ’s largest nature reserve). It stretches out into the Tasman Sea and at some point at sea, we can reach the Antartic within 500kms. Most of this National Park is filled with beech, fur and pine trees. There is a huge amount of rainfall in this area making it very dense and extremely cold.

We drove through acres of farmland and into the alpine forest and along the way we were met with a pleasant surprise. Two days ago when we were at Mount Cook, I prayed for snow since the sight of snow capped mountains made my faith leap a little. But we left the place without any snow fall. Completely forgotten that I had prayed that prayer, God send snow in the middle of our coach journey!!! Driving into sturdy looking mountains, they slowly changed into white as carried on. The land had evolved into white laden moss and snow capped turned into snow drapped. 360degrees all around everything was literally WHITE! Then in just a few minutes I looked out the window and realized that the presumable rain was actually SNOW! We rushed out of the bus and like children grabbing for sweets, we reached out in glee with white little dots settling on our jackets!!!

You can imagine how glad I am, right?

Thank You, Lord!

Within 10 days we have experience sun, rain, strong winds and now – SNOW! The coach driver told us that it’s the first snow fall of 2008, since winter only rolls in end of May. Wow! God really answers prayers and He does in His time!

Those are not dandruffs, they are snow!

Upon reaching Milford Sound we boarded a cruise that will bring us out into the Tasman Sea and back. The cruise brought us right by waterfalls on the cliff of the mountain and next to big boulders where seals made their home. The weather by then had lowered a few degrees and we were bitterly cold. Once again, God opened the clouds and send sunshine reflecting an awesome spectrum of rainbow.

See the rainbow?

God's promises are yes, and amen!
