We wanted a fresh breeze away from the city (although we’re only staying in a suburb) so a hike fitted the puzzle. The nearest ascend with a bit more challenge was just 45 mins away in Cheras – Gunung Nuang. Terence was there 3 weeks ago with his AR boys and I had wanted to go, but work stood in the way. Finally a weekend free for a small excursion.
I had my “worries” since I didn’t exercise the whole week and a 2 hour hike seemed daunting to me. I was relieved to find out that I didn’t do too bad, as we reached our destination in an hour and a half instead of two. The hike was very refreshing and taxing to the legs initially (since I didn’t warm up!). Whilst climbing I thought to myself, I can’t imagine a life cooped up in the city without a window of escape to the wilderness!
Our 1 ½ hour climb arrived us at an inviting gushing stream with large rocks and foliage of greens. We whipped out the Bunsen burner, washed our mess cans and cooked ourselves breakfast. The menu for the morning was: Sour cream and chives pasta with red bell peppers and chicken ham. Delicious!
The breakfast brought along many other uninvited guests – mosquitoes, butterflies, ants and even bees. One even made himself comfortable by leaving a sting on Terence’s leg! I guess we were the uninvited guest in their eyes…
Away from civilization....
Almost there... time for a rest
Our view during breakfast
Happy and contented after an alfresco meal. I didn't even need to walk far to wash the cutlery... the sink is just next to me!
