First bridal shower!

There is a season for everything. Long before it was friends dispersing to different parts of the world for studies, then it came time for us to fit into the 9-5 schedule and finally the season has come for bridal showers, weddings and honeymoons!

It’s exciting, heartwarming and absolutely absorbing. Popping the cork of this lovely ‘champagne’, we had a sweet and pretty bridal shower for her. Having an innate passion to organize things like this, I took the extra initiative to check out what happens during a bridal shower.

Did you know the history behind it? Back in the olden times in Holland, a rich young pretty lady fell in love with a kind hearted young man. Their love led them to a decision to marry, however the young man very poor because he would share whatever he had to help others. Receiving news that his daughter was going to marry this poor young lad, the father of the girl forbid and banished her from the home. Seeing this calamity and sincere love they had for each other, the townspeople decided to contribute the couple and see their wedding through. People came from far and wide to lavish them with gifts.

Now fast forwarding to the 21st Century, Lee Yen too had gifts lavished on her. Not only were there gifts, but food was abundant too! Meant it to be a dainty after dinner party, still mothers streamed in with a fare of scrumptious platters!

But it wasn’t just about gifts and presents, it was a night to reflect on God’s goodness in her life and bless her before her big day.

All ears were opened as the mothers shared a personal nugget or two about their marriages. It was heartwarming at the same time intriguing to see the mommies reveal a part of their lives that is most private. Very thankful that we’re surrounded with people that have traveled that path and is not hesitant to turn back to holler and advice or two.

Next up the wedding!
