It’s very rare that my Saturday’s are off. Trying to juggle Ranger’s activities and my teaching can be quite a feat sometimes. And more often than not, I have to for go Rangers activities in favor of my classes. This time around however, since Deepavali and Hari Raya happened to fall back to back, it worked excellent for my schedule. 5 days of holiday without a hassle is what I mean. No need to take leave, no need to call for any replacements or reschedule my classes!
Ventured off to a nearby campsite in Ulu Yam for a Discovery Family Camp. I must say camping has become quite rusty to me. I find it a wonder even admitting that it has been awfully long since I slept in a tent! So after all the campers dragged their bags into their tents, swept off all the dirt inside, flicked off all the insects hiding underneath… I whisked my way to the air conditioned dorm. Finding it weird that comfortable sleeping conditions are a must nowadays. Sigh, I have to admit, maybe I have become more pampered. There is a time for everything, and tents will find its way somewhere down the road again.
Hiking was in for the day, as families thronged through the beaten tracks and sauntered across streams to reach a three leveled waterfall. A refreshing sight and an adrenaline rush for the kids. We bubbled up the fun with a classic “never fail to amuse us” competition – the Shampoo Game!!! We lathered up, spiked, curled, tweaked and designed the most atrocious hairstyles on each other. I managed to squirm my way out of it and was happily making little shampoo monsters out the children. Great fun reminding me of the first time this game was introduced – when I was 14 years old!
Time to revenge on the commanders! The nice, gentle and meek fell prey to this cunning threesome who continously eyed on victims...
Cmdr. Maggie giving a massage at the falls...
Joyce will look back, reminisce and laugh over this pic when she's 10 years older!
