Into the REAL New Zealand

Day 6 - Honeymoon

Today marked our final day in North Island…till we meet again two days before we fly back to Malaysia. We took the Interislander Ferry across to the South Island, some dubbed it the ‘real’ New Zealand. On board the three hour journey, we took this opportunity to get some sleep, plan our 8 day South Island rendezvous and again, more sleep!

Of all the days so far we’ve been here, the Lord decided that open the heavens and allowed for rain, and indeed, it was a good thing. We had nothing plan the day, except to take the ferry and then later, drive down from Picton (port for South Island) to Kaikoura, land of marine wildlife.

Yipppeee! It's the 'REAL' New Zealand

The journey along the way was very scenic, and not being bias…yes, this is the REAL New Zealand. We have arrived! Wild seals greeted us along our coastal drive and we being wildlife lovers, stopped by the coast to view them!

Lil' old seal smiling - picture perfect!

We booked ourselves into a backpackers inn called The Lazy Shag, and headed for a wonderful hot meal of fish and chips, for Terence, and Kaikoura’s famous crayfish mornay for Deb.
