Sneak peak into bridal mags

Having buried my eyes into so many wedding mags, I think I can finally justify a review on some of my favourites. The excitement of the big day jumped at me when I stood in front of the magazine rack wishing I could buy all the wedding mags on sale. That was about 6 months back. But reality hit me and it was simply too foolish and expensive to splurge on a few pieces of paper every other month, so I resorted in spending sensibly and exercising self control over the temptation to grab the whole lot back. Yes! I have collected a stack of em’ neatly piled and taken out for reference every now and then. Here’s my personal review on a few choice mags:

Modern Bride
Price:
RM40.00
From:
USA
Most suited for:
Brides who intend to make their own dresses. There are lots of designs you can pinch from.
Best reads: ‘
Great Ceremony Solution’ – real couples share their stories of how they solve minor of major hiccups on their wedding day.
Beast reads:
‘Objects of Desire’ – jewelry section (it just doesn’t allure me)

Brides
Price:
RM33.50
From:
USA
Most suited for:
Brides who want interesting and snappy information on how prepare themselves for the big day. It’s all about the Bride the title goes.
Best reads:
‘Celebrate! Real Weddings’ – From bizarre to classic traditional weddings, couples share their wedding ideas and experience of their big day.
Beast reads: The shopping directory! Obviously it’s redundant to me since I won’t be shopping in America.

You and Your Wedding
Price:
RM32.90
From:
UK
Most suited for:
Brides looking for a modern / chic wedding. It’s also a great read with many articles (unlike most wedding magazines loaded with photos and advertisements)
Best reads:
‘Your honeymoon’ – Great destination and vacation write ups that come in handy not only for honeymoon plans but future holidays!
Beast reads:
‘There isn’t any really.

The Bride & Bloom
Price:
RM25.00
From: USA
Most suited for: Couples who love details, unique deco ideas and are looking for something unconventional.

Best reads:
Everything! (Literally) If I have to choose, I’d jump straight to ‘Real Weddings’ – spectacular writing and vivid photos of unique wedding receptions.
Beast reads: I’m being bias if I said none. But frankly I don’t like the ‘Runway’ bit as it’s irrelevant and wedding dresses are hideous at times.
