Stifling my expectations from sky rocketing, we arrived at the Dolphin Discovery Center nice and early in hope to catch some. I didn’t want to expect, lest I be disappointed with none. As the morning ticked away, we were ushered into a hut that opened up to a bay. The centers’ volunteers patiently waited for a fin to surface. We were briefed not to touch the dolphins, not to chase after them, not to raise our voices – yadda yadda! I just wanted to see them, now hurry up.
As we neared the bay and stood knee high in between the volunteers, two fins surfaced about 50 metres away. My heart leaped in excitement – this is it, finally after so many years of waiting, the darlings are approaching. The next half hour was a dream come true. I was silenced at their beauty, amazed at their agility – grasping the moment by its sleeves and not wanting it to pass. Later Terence told me that he had heard me whispering “sweetheart” and “darling” to those fishes.Oh well, but for a few moments – those names now rightfully returns to him.

Wheeling further south we arrived at the longest man made jetty in Busselton. Stretching 2 km into the sea, we strolled down the jetty and back. The panoramic view of Geographe Bay on the jetty was blissful. With our tummies roaring from the 4 km walk, we had fish and chips by the bay with hot chocs and moccas to top it off. I wished we could stay a bit more, but our schedule was tight for the day.
Onto Augusta where the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse stands. It situated on the most south westerly tip of Australia. We climbed our way up to the lighthouse as we witness the Indian and the Southern Oceans meeting. The stunning view at the top was astounding. Watching the ferocious Southern Ocean and magnificent Indian Ocean crashing against a boulder in the middle of the sea against the backdrop of the entire ocean meeting the sky – I was truly in awe! Driving further down to Augusta, we retired for the evening at a dainty hotel. Then put together a jumbled up drumlets from a nearby butcher, soup and veggies from a Chinese takeaway and potato wedges from Busselton.
